Many attempts have been made to increase muscle strengthening.
Weightlifting, Therabands, Jobe Exercises, weighted balls, and steroids are some of these attempts; however all lack the most crucial aspect for building muscle: The ability for interactive and dynamic muscle strengthening.
Weightlifting
- over training can result in becoming too big and inflexible which depletes your skill. Results don’t translate to increased functional strength.
Theraband/Jobe Exercises
- the surgical tubing and light weight dumbbell exercises are a good way to prehab or rehab from injuries; however, neither form of training is functional throughout the user’s game-like motions.
Weighted Balls
- quite possibly the worst thing on the market when it comes to health and results. Weighted Balls do 3 things: 1. Weighted Balls place all the weight at the end of the lever which places a HUGE amount of stress on the “fulcrum” or elbow during exercise. This will result in injury to the Ulnar Collateral Ligament and/or Labrum. 2. Weighted Balls disrupt the Autonamic Nervous System. When working out with various weights other than the weight of the user’s game ball, the user’s “repeater” muscles don’t know where to release the ball with any accuracy because the ANS is confused resulting in depleted skill level of the user. 3. Weighted Balls do NOT strengthen the decelerator muscles. The arm can only throw or swing as fast as the decelerator muscles will allow it to. Any added strength gain of throwing a Weighted Ball is gone when the ball leaves the user’s hand; hence no strength gain to the user’s decelerator muscles.
Steroids
- added strength gains are not permanent results while the long term side effects are. Long term side effects include: Inhibition of Natural Hormones, Liver Damage, Gynocomastia, Acne, Roid Rage, Baldness, Virilization, Stunted Growth, Prostate Enlargement, Kidney Problems, High Blood Pressure, and Sterility… Get the picture? Don’t do steroids!!!
